The Preservation of Life!

Ever since the first successful cord blood transplant in 1988, researchers have been continuing to work with the potential benefits of using stem cells in the treatment of diseases. Over the last decade, the advances have been dramatic in the treatment diseases with harvested stem cells from cord blood. One of the major hurdles in this process, according to the recent CryoCell Press Release, was the lack of sufficient stem cells found in cord blood to treat a grown adult. Since cord blood can only be harvested at birth, the onetime harvest and preservation has been found to be sufficient for a child or small adult. This posed a problem according to Cryo-cell. Fortunately; researchers found that if menstrual stem cells were added to cord blood stem cells the result produced an increased number of progenitor that could be used in the treatment of diseases. This finding has terrific potential for the increased production of cells that can be used in a variety of ways and can dramatically change the way we practice medicine. Food for thought the next time you decide to have a child. Cryo-Cell is one of the top Stem Cell research and Cryopreservation Company’s in the US.
