I Found a Red Foot Tortoise Turtle

This morning I went outside to check my garden if there is no damaged due to the heavy rain and wind last night. When I stepped down on my patio area, I heard something noisy so I check and I saw a turtle trying to run away from me, lol! But because I was excited to show to my children the real turtle that they will only see for the first time. They know turtle and only from the TV but not a real one. So, I went inside and took a bucket to where to put the turtle that I just found. The kids were asking what kind of turtle it is and I don't have any idea what to answer. Before I answered them and give them a little bit of information about this turtle that I just caught, I first research on it. I don't want to give wrong information to my kids because I know how smart they are. According to my research this turtle called "Red Foot Tortoise Turtle". The Red footed tortoises often reach a length of 10-14 inches, although they can be larger (16 inches or more). A slightly smaller "dwarf" variety is also being sold, commonly called the cherry-head that only attains a length of 10 - 12 inches as an adult. They can reach weights up to 30 pounds. They only eat variety of fresh leafy greens (dandelion greens, endive, mustard greens, escarole; not lettuce, spinach or kale), vegetables, and fruits should also be fed (they also tolerate fruit better than many other species), in other words is not hard to taking care of. So, I told my children about it and it was funny though because my youngest son wants me to return the turtle to the ocean hahahahaha... I told him that they will not survive in the ocean and he said "Oh they going to die because it is salty" I am so amazed to my 2 year old son; he is really a smart kid.

Just saying! That is a box turtle. I can see how you can get the two confused. They're from South America. You should put it back where you found it. I own a red foot. They have similar red scales on their legs, but their carapace is very different. Thank you:)
